The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) will present Team Nigeria to President Muhammadu Buhari on 19 July. This was revealed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, at a press briefing on Tuesday. Dalung said the N500 million approved for the team will not be enough to take care of expenses for the 95 athletes who have qualified for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The team is said to need an additional N2 billion and the NOC believes that the President will come to the team’s aid.
Dalung appealed to Nigerians to stop predicting doom for the country at the forthcoming Olympic games. He added that nothing would stop the country from going to the Olympics.
