Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has called out the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi for failing to join the #EndSARS memorial procession.
Making this call in a tweet, Omokri stated that Obi who drew his support from a majority of the young #EndSARS protesters ought to show solidarity with the young Nigerians who trooped out en-mass to honour the memory of those that lost their lives at the Lekki tollgate on the night of October 20, 2020.
“The #EndSARS Generation X are the ones partly powering the Obidient movement. One would have thought Peter Obi would show solidarity with them by joining their memorial walk. He has time. After all, he l suspended his campaign to ‘help’ flood victims!” Omokri wrote.
Recall that Nigerian youths trooped out en mass on Thursday for the second-year memorial procession of the Lekki shootings.
However, according to reports, the police, who were heavily present at the memorial event venue, fired tear gas to disperse the protesters who, in the words of Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police, were becoming unruly.
However, as of the time of filing this report, Peter Obi had yet to express any form of solidarity in support of the #EndSARS memorial activities.
