Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has questioned the credibility of the BVAS technology recently introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the Osun election petition tribunal sacked the newly elected governor of Osun state, Ademola Adeleke, for overvoting.
Omokri questioned the integrity of the BVAS technology, claiming that either the tribunal lied about the alleged overvoting claim or INEC was incorrect in claiming that BVAS prevent multiple voting.
“I really don’t get why INEC wants to test run BVAS again. They used it for the Osun election, yet a tribunal says there was over voting. That means either the tribunal lied, or INEC is mistaken about its claims that BVAS will prevent multiple voting. Which is it?” Omokri wrote.
The Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Osogbo on Friday declared Adegboyega Oyetola as the lawful winner of the July 16th, 2022 election, having found ‘proof’ of over-voting.
