In response to jailbreaks around the nation, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has unusually requested President Muhammadu Buhari to dedicate two newly built cell blocks at the Makurdi medium correctional facility.
At a meeting with the residents of Ugondo, the community where the correctional facility is located, Ortom made this disclosure and warned them against intruding on land donated to the facility and any other government agency working to further the prosperity and security of the Benuean people.
The invitation is being extended despite his apparent irreparable conflict with Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential nominee.
Additionally, Ortom is a well-known member of the PDP G5, which is headed by his counterpart from Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
In order to support Atiku’s bid for president in 2023, the group demands that Iyorchia Ayu, who was born in Benue, quit.
