Some traditional worshipers have been spotted in the premises of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) chanting for the removal of Oscar Udoji, the governing council chairman.
As seen in a video, the traditional worshipers identified as indigenes of Ile-Ife in white apparel were on OAU premises with banners celebrating OAU at 61 tagged “enough is enough” #IfeAVC. The other banner has “OAU Council Chairman, Oscar Udoji is a thief’ on it.
The traditional worshippers were also heard chanting some Yoruba incantations.
NewsBreak further gathered that the traditional worshippers accused the governing council of deliberately “scheming out an indigene from being appointed” as the Vice-Chancellor of the university.
The university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, did not respond to calls requesting the university’s reaction to the incident.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, March 17, 2022, Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU Ile-Ife, appointed a Professor of Agricultural Economics, Prof Adebayo Simeon Banire, as its substantive new Vice-Chancellor.
