The family of a 16-year-old, Mmesoma Ofodile, are currently at unease following the sudden disappearance of their daughter.
Mmesoma is said to have been missing since Sunday, 24 October, left home for church (House on the Rock) situated at Ndiakwu Otolo Nnewi, North of Anambra State.
According to her family, her Phone number has since been tracked to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, but no vital information is known about her possible whereabouts.
Speaking to Newsbreak, the mother Mrs Ifeoma Ofodile narrated the circumstances behind her missing child.
She said: “My heart is broken, she left home to church on Sunday. We attend House on the Rock, and she worships in the Teens church. After church on Sunday, I went to the teens’ church to give her the house keys so that she can carry her younger ones home, only not to find her.
“I thought maybe she must have gone home before me and I went home, only to find out she wasn’t home either. I contacted my spiritual father and he told me to call the teens’ church.
“I called her friend and she confirmed my daughter wasn’t in church. With the help of local trackers, we were able to track her phone to Port Harcourt. When we tried to continue the search, it was discovered her Sim card has been removed from her phone.”
The mother of the child expressed her shock about her daughter’s sim being found in Port Harcourt, noting that the family does not have any extended family in Port Harcourt to warrant her daughter being there.
“We don’t have any relative or extended family in Port Harcourt so am really shocked”.
Mmesoma, who is the second child out of four children, has been missing for over 72 hours.
“My husband is with the police. The police have not given us any vital information or lead, am just praying”, Mrs Ofodile added.
Also speaking, Eziwanne Ofodile, Mmesoma’s aunt, told Newsbreak how she nurtured the girl, adding that the missing girl is of a good character.
“I am alarmed. She is a good girl, she is not the type to follow men or run from home. She likes church”, Eziwanne said.
At the time of this report, there has not been any concrete information about her whereabouts. The family has not received any call from kidnappers requesting ransom.
