Honourable Olaaje Yemi Yaqub of Kajola/Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa on Thursday denied endorsing any candidate ahead of the 2023 elections.
Newsbreak learned that John Olaleru, an aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election holding on Friday had claimed that Olaaje adopted his candidacy.
Recall that in a letter to Kajola APC stakeholders, dated 5th May, 2022, Olaaje had withdrawn from the House of Reps race “to abide with the proposed zoning arrangement between Kajola Local Government zone 1 and zone 2”.
But Olaleru, via social media posts, claimed Olaaje has endorsed him, an assertion the latter described as “a fallacy” because he is for everybody.
“I was surprised when I saw the news,” Olaaje told this news medium.
“Some aspirants actually consulted me to be a bride, but I wish all of them best of luck in as much as I find it difficult and illogical to align with any aspirant for now, bearing in mind that it is only God that gives power to whom He wishes. Hence I cannot play God.
“I am praying and waiting for our party leaders to shrink all four hopefuls in Kajola Local Government to just one aspirant for me to align with their decision. I will always abide by party supremacy.
“In conclusion, the purported adoption of Honourable Olaleru in his bid to become a member of the House of Representatives in our federal constituency remains a fallacy. In as much as I wish him and other aspirants the best of luck, I remain neutral, for I am for nobody, I am for everybody.”
