Imo State Governor, Hope Uzidimma, has defeated Governor, Rochas Okorocha in the ownership tussle over Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ogboko.
Recall that the university which was formerly known as Eastern Palm University was seized from Okorohcha by Uzodimma and renamed it Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwa University, Ogboko, Imo State.
But with the latest development, the NUC has endorsed and approved that Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University Ogboko, Imo State, be recognised as the 42nd state-owned university in Nigeria.
During a visit to the regulatory agency’s headquarters in Abuja, for the presentation of a provisional license, the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abubarkar Adamu Rasheed, congratulated governor Uzodimma and assured him of the commission’s readiness to assist the state in her academic strides.
Rasheed noted that the commission would continue to work with the state to ensure the universities take their place among other universities.
“By a copy of this letter, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) are being notified of this development.
