Tragedy was averted in Lagos on Friday, when passengers onboard a boat were rescued before it capsized.
The ill-fated boat was said to have left the Five Cowries terminal in Ikoyi area of the state with five passengers en route Badagry.
The boat reportedly developed a technical fault five minutes into into journey, but the passengers were rescued and brought back to the terminal safely.
An official of the Lagos Ferry Services Company (LAGFERRY) said the incident was as a result of a high tide of water which tampered with the technical part of the boat.
“No Cause for Alarm! The boat was going to Badagry, but unfortunately stopped five minutes after casting out of Five Cowries Terminal,” the official said.
“All passengers have been successfully rescued, while the boat moved to safer harbour till the heavy rain stopped and will be taken to dry dock for technical assessment. We appreciate your genuine concerns.”
There was a heavy downpour in Lagos on Friday, with parts of the state flooded.
