A report says that security operatives working in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, are owed salary arrears. The Punch said that the security officials, comprising the police, DSS, Nigerian Intelligence Agency and paramilitary outfits are owed ‘Risk Cautious Allowance’ being paid to them until the incumbent government came in. The disgruntled security officials, the report said, accused the National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno of
stopping the allowance. Rather, the NSA was said to have handed them forms to fill to re-ascertain their genuineness as Aso Rock staff.
“Even if the idea was to ascertain that we are truly working in the Villa, I believe that photocopies of our identity tags should be enough for the exercise”, a policeman was quoted to have said.
“How can the NSA ask that we should be filling forms that run into about five pages and yet, there is still nothing to show for it?
“These are people who keep introducing new security measures to be implemented by disgruntled officers”, the unnamed policeman said. However, the Punch said it couldn’t confirm the story from Presidential spokesmen Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu.
