The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on the Department of State Services (DSS), to invite Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, for questioning over alleged link to Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
Pantami has been in the news since Daily Independent published a report claiming that the minister, a known Islamic preacher before his appointment, is a close confidant of Mohammed Yusuf, the late Boko Haram founder.
The newspaper also said the minister has been placed on the watch list of America’s Intelligence Services.
The minister, while answering questions during his daily Ramadan lecture at Annor Mosque in Abuja on Saturday, said maturity has changed his views and that he no longer holds radical opinion about terrorist organisations.

His confirmation of the expose’ by the publication has angered Nigerians on Twitter, calling for his resignation.
The PDP in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, also asked President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Pantami immediately.
The party said its position is “predicated on the heightening in the public space and in the international arena of possible compromises by the communication minister who has access to sensitive government documents and information, in addition to data of all individuals including high profile personalities in the public in the public and private sectors as well as traditional and faith-based circles”.
“The PDP is particularly worried about the allegations in the public suggesting that the minister compromised the NIN registration exercise by giving room for the registration of aliens and invaders from other countries as our citizens.
“The party tasks the DSS to investigate the allegation, which has created apprehension, particularly giving the rise in banditry and other terrorists activities in our country,” the statement read in part.
