Duoye Diri, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)in the November 2019 governorship, has been sworn in as the Governor of Bayelsa State.

He was sworn in by Justice Kate, the state’s Chief Judge, at the Government House in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The state deputy governor-elect, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, also sworn in, took his oaths of office and allegiance.

Diri was pronounced governor-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday after the Supreme Court nullified the election of All Progressives Congress’ David Lyon.
