At least 24 people have been killed in a fatal motor accident at Gwamfai village in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Auwal Sankara, a media aide to the state governor, confirmed the incident on Monday.
Sankara explained that the accident occurred after the driver of the Toyota bus involved lost control, and bumped into a petrol seller along the road.
He said the bus, which took off from Jahun Local Government Area, was heading to Shuwarin market in Kiyawa Local Government, before the incident occurred.

The media aide noted that governor Mohammed Abubakar saw the accident on his way to Gumel, and instructed the local council chairman to ensure that he assists the families of the passengers.
The police spokesperson in the state, Abdu Jinjiri, also confirmed the incident.

He, however, said the police have not received details of the exact cause of the incident, as well as the casualty figure.
