The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), has intercepted a truck loaded with 200,000 live ammunition heading to Onitsha in Anambra State.
According to Eagle Eye report, the Onisha-bound truck was intercepted along the Wawa-Babana border while on its way into Nigeria from Benin Republic.
Two suspects; a driver, Bukari Dauda, and the owner of the cartridges, Martin Anokwara, were arrested.
The South-east region of the country was recently thrown into months of insecurity, following attacks on police stations and killing of security operatives suspected to have been perpetrated by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
However, peace has returned to the region for weeks now, following a joint operation by the military and other security agencies.
