A protest video making rounds on social media on Tuesday saw Mogodo Phase II, Lagos State, residents at the estate entrance protesting against the alleged unlawful plans to demolish houses.
Narrations from the video revealed some houses had been unlawfully marked for demolition as policemen allegedly stormed the estate to provide cover for the demolition process.
Narration from an Instagram user: “Huge detachment of armed Mobile Policemen invade Magodo Phase 2 Estate in Lagos ostensibly on the orders of the Inspector General Police. Their mission is to provide cover for the demolition and takeover of the Estate.
“A giant bulldozer is already at the entrance of the Estate trying to gain entrance to begin the demolition work.
The Police had earlier led a group of hoodlums into the Estate who marked virtually all the houses in the fully-built Estate for demolition.
“Lagos State government has surprisingly remained silent.
“The residents have formed a human shield at the entrance of the gate. A heavy crisis is brewing.
Below are some videos of the situation.”
