One person has died and four others seriously injured, after a water tanker crushed a tricycle in Anambra State on Monday.

A statement released by RC Kamal Musa, the acting Sector Public Education Officer of the Anambra State Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), stated that the accident occurred opposite Jodon Shopping Mall, in Nkpor, along Onitsha- Awka Old road at about 3.00pm.

Musa said the accident happened as a result of excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking.
He said four persons who sustained injuries were rushed to Boromi hospital in Onitsha by FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit Command.

Musa added that the dead victim’s body was deposited at the morgue, after he was confirmed dead by doctors in the hospital.
