Players and officials of the Super Eagles of Nigeria have returned to the country, ahead of the team’s final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho in Lagos on Tuesday.
The team booked a place in the tournament on Saturday before their game against Benin Republic, after Sierra Leone and Lesotho, the other opponents in Group L, played out a goalless draw in their own encounter.
Notwithstanding, the Nigerian team further cemented their place in the continental showpiece with a 1-0 win at the Charles de Gaulle stadium in Port Novo, ending their hosts’ eight-year home win run, courtesy of a Paul Onuachu’s 92nd minute goal.
The Eagles are on course to finish the qualifying series as the group winners, even if they lose to Lesotho.
The team will be playing in Lagos for the first time in 10 years.
