Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, have both left the White House for the final time as President and First Lady of the United States of America.
Both President Trump and his wife boarded Marine One on the lawn of the White House on Wednesday morning, after which they landed at the Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
In brief remarks to reporters, Trump said it had been an “amazing four years” and the “honour of a lifetime”.
“I just want to say goodbye,” he said.
After speaking at Andrews, Trump and his entire family, including his sons – Don Jr. and Eric- daughter Ivanka, and her husband and Senior White House adviser, Jared Kushner, boarded the Air Force One plane for Florida.
Outgoing US Vice President, Mike Pence, however, skipped the event as he has elected to attend the presidential inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
He is the first president to snub his successor’s inauguration since 1869.
Trump will be at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida when Biden is sworn in at noon local time (1700 GMT) as the 46th president of the United States.
