President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday met with the newly appointed service service chiefs.
The meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, a day after the Presidency announced the appointment of the new quartet of officers as the leaders of the country’s military branches.
President Buhari on Tuesday appointed Major-General Leo Irabor (Chief of Defence Staff), Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru (Chief of Army Staff), Rear Admiral A.Z. Gambo (Chief of Naval Staff) and Air Vice Marshall I.O. Amao (Chief of Air Staff) as the new service chiefs.
The appointment comes after over five years of consistent pressure on the president by Nigerians to change the service chiefs following the rising insecurity plaguing various parts of the country.
Also in attendance at the meeting on Wednesday include the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari; Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina; among others.
The details of the meeting was, however, unknown as of press time.
