A UK-based drug lord of Nigerian parentage Babatunde Arogundade has been sighted in pictures taken from a prison, showing off his bling, £3,000 gold Rolex wristwatch and Versace-tailored silk shirt, trousers and medallion.
The pictures, taken on a mobile phone – an illegal act in UK prisons – was posted to Instagram and captioned ‘Free BP’, Arogundade’s nickname. The drugs lord was convicted and sentenced to 27 years jail in 2013 of conspiracy to supply drugs and 15 firearms charges. Arogundade was nabbed when police found four shotguns, a loaded Smith and Wesson handgun and a Winchester rifle stashed in the back of a Honda Civic owned by a young mother Bianca Willoughby in Hemel Hempstead, Herts. The mother of one was later cleared of complicity.
She claimed she had visited Arogundade to seek financial help for her business and borrow his Maserati for her friend to use on her wedding day. Willoughby said Arogundade kept the guns in her car in exchange for letting her friend use his car. Also, found by the Police were kilos of cocaine hidden in pink children’s wrapping paper, costing about £200,000.
The Police later found weighing scales and plastic bags containing 1.22kg of crack cocaine and a cutting agent. Before his arrest, Arogundade was reportedly living a luxury lifestyle, owning luxury cars including a Maserati, Bentley and splashing piles of pounds on champagnes at upscale UK clubs. Also jailed alongside Arogundade were a lady Nicholes Douglas and Fred Jones.
