Some suspected internet fraudsters, on Tuesday, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, protested a raid by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
It was reported that operatives of the EFCC had carried out a raid on their residence at Adetunji Estate in Osogbo at about 2:00am.
The operatives of the agency were said to have arrested some suspected internet fraudsters and seized about 20 exotic cars.
It was also reported that some of the youths confronted the operatives during the operation.
At the protest, the youths were seen carrying posters with messages against the anti-graft agency.
They also set bonfires around Lameco roundabout.
Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the police command, Yemisi Opalola, said officers have tried to control the situation from escalating further.
She said the EFCC did not inform the police before they embarked on the operation in the night.
“We are aware of the situation, we are now trying to appease the protesters and clear the bonfire so that people can go about their lawful duties without fear of harassment,” she told Channels Television.
