Police Arrest 2 Cattle Rustlers For Murder

Two suspected cattle rustlers have been arrested by the Ogun state police command for the murder of a herdsman Taye Amodu.

The men, Hassan Amodu and Abubakar Abdullah, were arrested by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, in Abeokuta.

Parading the suspects, FSARS said they kidnapped their victim on 23 October at Obada Oko area of Abeokuta and made away with eight cows belonging to the victim.

According to the police, ”On receiving information about the attack, our men at the FSARS and their OC, DSP Uba Adam swung into action.

”At about 5:30pm of the same day, the hideout of the culprits was located in Imeko area of Ogun State through technical intelligence.

The hideout in a thick forest was stormed by the operatives where the two suspects were arrested. Recovered from them are one pump action gun fully loaded with four live cartridges and two cutlasses.

On interrogation, they confessed to have killed the victim because he was struggling with them while they were taking him away and the body has been buried in a shallow grave inside the forest. They equally confessed taking away eight cows belonging to the victim.

Ahmed Iliyasu, the state commissioner of police, commended the FSARS operatives for their gallantry and display of intelligence.
