The Lagos State police command has arrested 60 suspects over the murder of a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Kazeem Abonde.
Abonde was killed on September 23, 2021, in the Ajao Estate area of the state.
It was stated that the deceased and his team had gone to the area to enforce the ban of commercial motorcycles on major roads and bridges.
However, after the police officers had seized some motorcycles, they came under attack from suspected hoodlums.
It was reported that the hoodlums swooped on Abonde, snatched his gun and shot him.
Two other officers were also injured in the melee.
Abonde’s death comes months before he was due to retire from the Force.
He had a Master’s degree in Law in 2019, and was planning to stop going for operations by December 2021, to prepare for his retirement in June 2022.
