The Kano State Police Command has arrested 63 suspected thugs and drug dealers across the eight local government areas of Kano metropolis.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by DSP Abdullahi Haruna, the command’s spokesperson, on Thursday.
According to Haruna, the arrested persons include 42 suspected notorious thugs (Yan Daba) and 21 drug dealers, noting that they were arrested from May 30 to June 1.
The Kano PPRO said the clearance operation was part of efforts to rid the state of all forms of criminality, especially thuggery and drug abuse.
He stated that a large number of arms, illicit drugs (Tramadol) worth N29.9 million and exol tablets worth N3.2 million were recovered during the operation.
Sama’ila Dikko, the Kano Commissioner of Police, commended stakeholders in the state for their prayers, support, encouragement and cooperation.
He promised that the police will continue to remain steadfast and resolute in safeguarding lives and property.
