Harry Okiri, also known as Harrysong, a popular Nigerian singer, was on Tuesday arrested by the Lagos state police command for allegedly defaming music executive Soso Soberekon.
Harrysong had claimed that Soberekon tried to kill him. However, his claim triggered Soberekon to file a petition, against him.
Following the petition, Harrysong was taken into custody on the morning of Tuesday, October 11.
Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for the command, revealed this in a conversation with reporters and stated that his arrest would help the command conduct an investigation into his accusation of assassination.
“We launched an investigation after receiving a petition against him from Soso Soberekon. The arrest is therefore related to the investigation, he explained.
The singer was sued for N500 million by a music executive just a few days prior.
