The Kano State police command has arrested a man suspected to be supplying motorcycles to bandits in Zamfara.
The suspect, whose name is being withheld, was arrested in Kano after a tip-off from some people.
Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s spokesperson, said the man has sold over 100 motorcycles to bandits.
Kiyawa, in an interview with BBC Hausa, disclosed that the man buys the motorcycles in Kano and takes them to the bandits in Zamfara State.
“He is selling motorcycle Honda ACE 125, popularly known as Boko Haram, which was banned by the Zamfara state government.
“They used to change the cartons here in Kano and supply it to the bandits in Zamfara where they assemble it in the bush.
“We arrested him with two motorcycles. He had changed the pack and was ready to move to Zamfara when we arrested him,” Kiyawa said.
Bandits are known to attack villages and communities on motorcycles, especially in the northern part of the country.
