The police in Bayelsa State have apprehended a 50-year-old man named Joseph Godfrey for allegedly luring unwary female job seekers to hotels and assaulting them sexually.
It was learned that the suspect frequently pretended to be a member of the Government House staff in Yenagoa and enticed his victims with the prospect of employment and job opportunities.
The suspected criminal took advantage of the country’s high unemployment condition to sway desperate female job seekers into doing his bidding.
Speaking on the development in a statement, the police detailed that the suspect was apprehended at Opolo area of Yenagoa the state capital in the afternoon of October 10, 2022.
“The suspect ran out of luck on 10th October 2022 at about 1300 hours, when one of the girls raised alarm and he was arrested at Opolo, Yenagoa,” statement by ASP Asinim Butswat Bayelsa’s command spokesperson read.
