Police have arrested six men for allegedly breaking into a firm, Revive Technologies, near the Olusosun dump in the Ojota area of Lagos. The men, Abu Muhammed, 18; Emmanuel George, 43; Abubakar Ibrahim, 28; Abubakar Abdullahi, 24; Bello Champion, 24 and 25-year-old Adeniyi Ifelowo, were accused of carrying out the robbery while the dump was on fire last Wednesday.
They have been accused of stealing a generator, weigh bridge machines, air conditioners, bulldozer parts, truck parts as well as computers. The men were caught by soldiers who were on guard at the company before they were handed over to the police. They were said to have carried out the operation around 11pm while the fire was still burning.
They have been arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ogba on three counts of stealing and burglary. The police prosecutor, Sergeant Raphael Donny, told the court that the offences were punishable under sections 287, 309(1,) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The stolen assets were valued at N8 million.
They pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum. A.O. Adedayo, the presiding magistrate adjourned the case till April 4, 2018.
