Police Commence Investigation Of CCT Chairman’s Alleged Assault On Security Guard

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command, has commenced investigation into the alleged assault involving Danladi Umar, Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), on a security guard.

Umar was captured in a viral video days ago assaulting a guard at the popular Banex Plaza in Wuse 2, Abuja.

The FCT command, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, ASP Yusuf Mariam, promised to be fair and professional in the conduct of its investigation.

“Following the incident of alleged assault involving the CCT Chairman and a security guard that took place at Bannex Plaza on Monday March 29th,2021, the command wishes to state categorically that discreet investigation is still ongoing.

“Hence, the Commissioner of Police CP Bala Ciroma wishes to reassure members of the public that the command will be professional, fair and thorough in its investigation,” the statement read in part.

The command appealed to residents to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has also vowed to conduct an independent investigation on the matter.

Various human rights groups in the country have called for Umar’s removal as CCT chairman.
