The Police Service Commission, PSC, has dismissed four senior officers for indiscipline.
The officers include one Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, and three Assistant Superintendents of Police, ASP.
Also, one ASP was compulsorily retired while one Superintendent, two Deputy Superintendents and another ASP had their ranks reduced.
Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, PSC, in a statement released on Wednesday, said the decisions were the highlights of the commission’s meeting held in Abuja. He said eight senior police officers were also reprimanded.
“Six other officers received the punishment of reprimand, four, warning letters, one, letter of advice and seven others exonerated,” Ani said.
The commission also approved the reinstatement of 14 senior police officers from appeals and petitions received by it, while three officers had their seniority restored and another three reinstated and retired.
More so, the PSC also considered and approved the compulsory retirement of three officers who appealed their punishments. The commission also affirmed its earlier decision on reinstatement of two other officers.
Ani disclosed that 11 appeals were rejected while approval was given for the promotion of one DSP.
He added that the decisions have been conveyed to the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for implementation.
