Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have dispersed “Buhari-must-go” protesters who protested in Abuja, the nation’s capital, on Friday, calling for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The protest coincided with the nation’s 61st Independence Anniversary and at the time the president was delivering his Independence Day anniversary broadcast.
The protesters, mainly youths, trooped out with placards and banners with various inscriptions such as “Buhari must go” and “#RevolutionNow”.
However, as the protesters attempted to march the streets of Abuja, operatives of the police invaded the area and dispersed them.
The police operatives fired teargas at the protesters and pursued them away from the streets.
It is unknown if any of the protesters have been arrested as of the time of this report.
