The police in Lagos have announced the arrests, on Friday, of 28 persons for alleged robbery during traffic gridlock at Oshodi.
Edgal Imohimi, commissioner of police for the state, in a statement on Saturday, said the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
Imohimi said “an intelligence report and surveillance of the area during traffic period” helped to arrest the suspects.
The police chief further said, “The commissioner of police Lagos state is using this medium to inform members of the public who have been victims of traffic robbers in this area to kindly visit the State SARS office ikeja and help in identifying some of the arrested suspects”.
Imohimi said the “suspects will be charged to court on Monday 13th, November 2017”.
He vowed the “police command will do all it takes to locate criminal hideouts and arrest more suspected traffic robbers to ease the free movement of Lagosians, and ensure Lagosians feel safe to go about their daily activities especially as the Yuletide period is fast approaching.”
