A police Inspector identified as Hosea Yakubu, has reportedly died after he was involved in a fight with some military officers in Rivers State.

It was gathered that Yakubu was returning from patrol with two of his colleagues, when they were accosted by a military officer in mufti, who accused them of driving against traffic at Eleme Petrochemical gate, in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
According to The Nation, a fight ensued between the policemen and the soldiers, after the police officer driving the vehicle was slapped.

According to the publication, a family member of the deceased officer disclosed that he was struck with a thick wood during the confrontation.
He was said to have been rushed to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) for medical attention, but died at the hospital.

“After 24 hours on admission, he gave up. Till today, neither the police nor the military have said anything or taken any action to bring the culprits to book,” the family source was quoted as saying.
