Police revelation about the arrest of persons related to the kidnapping of some students and officials of the Nigerian Turkish International Colleges, NTIC, show the ringleaders hail from Delta State, in Nigeria’s South-South region. The said ringleaders, Philip Kakadu, aka General Kakadu, 29, and Romeo Council, aka Raw, 40, are from from Warri North LGA and Bomadi Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were arrested in Warri (Delta) by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, led by ACP Abba Kyari.
The police said they are being restrained about storming the kidnappers’ hideout in other not to harm the victims in their custody, but believe they might be released based on the arrest of the gangs’ leaders.
The arrested men allegedly confessed to other kidnap cases in the state, including the abduction of the Iba monarch in Lagos, and some Isheri landlords.
Three pupils, a Turkish teacher, a supervisor, a matron and two intending candidates of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination were abducted last Friday by the kidnappers. They were said to have demanded from the matron’s husband a ransom of N100m.
