The Ogun State Police Command has summoned the owner of Pavilion Hotel and Suites located, Ayepe, in the Odogbolu area of the state for allegedly planting secret cameras in rooms.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the command’s Public Relations Officer, disclosed this on Monday.
The development followed public outcry against the hotel after an online video showed guests lamenting the discovery of closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) planted in the air conditioner in one of their rooms.
Nigerians reacted with fury, accusing the hotel’s management of breaching people’s privacy.
Femi Branch, a Nollywood actor, added his voice to the matter in a video on Instagram and called on the police as well as the state government to thoroughly investigate the case.
Oyeyemi said the hotel’s owner, who resides in Lagos, had already been invited for questioning, adding that investigation has commenced into the matter.
“The owner of the hotel stays in Lagos and the Divisional Police Officer in Odogbolu has invited him. We are expecting him to come and state his reasons for doing so,” he said.
