Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force have taken over Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, the Osun State capital, which is the venue of the Yoruba Nation Mega Rally, a Yoruba self-determination rally, scheduled to hold on Saturday (today).

Men of Amotekun Corps were also positioned at a strategic spot, apparently to prevent participants from reaching the park.
Although agitators in support of the rally were seen near the park, the organisers had not arrived in the area.

It was, however, learnt that the participants later regrouped under November 27 Bridge along Osogbo/Gbongan Road, Osogbo.
The conveyance of the protest had led to the deployment of heavily armed security personnel across the Osun State capital, with operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS), Nigeria Police, the military Joint Task Force (JTF), Amotekun, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) seen at Oke-Fia, Old Garage, Freedom Park, Alekuwodo, Ola-Iya interjection and Fagbewesa areas of the city.
