A superintendent of police was shot dead on Thursday, while two other officers were reportedly injured, after commercial motorcyclists attacked them in the Ajao Estate area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the task force operatives had succeeded in seizing some motorcycles after the owner flouted traffic rules.
The aggrieved motorcyclists mobilized and attacked the police officers.
According to eyewitnesses, the motorcyclists who were majorly from the nrthern part of the country, disarmed the deceased police officer and used his service firearm to kill him along Asa Afariogun road by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
The riotous bikers were also said to have extended their attack on the officers towards a police station, where they allegedly shot two more officers and destroyed a patrol van.
The Lagos State police command is yet to comment on the incident.
