A policewoman on duty has reportedly been shot dead by COVID-19 task force team in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday, when the team setup by the state governor, Nyesom Wike, was chasing people out of Eneka Market in Obio-Akpo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to a twitter user, @fulfilledson, who claimed to witness the incident, he said the policewoman left her breastfeeding child to control traffic, when she met her untimely death.
“When I say the Nigeria police needs orientation on handling arms people don’t take it serious. Just happening now, a female policewoman was gunned down at Eneka in Port Harcourt by Governor Wike task force team who came to chase people who were selling in a market.

“The female police officer who controls traffic at the market was shot down by a policeman. The female policewoman was begging on behalf of a shoe trader who was arrested by the policeman from the taskforce team.
“The policeman threatened to shoot the trader if he doesn’t stop resisting arrest. As he pointed the gun the trader dodged the bullet only for it to catch the female policewoman on her head.

“She left a 2-month-old child she was breastfeeding 30mins before she died. She normally leaves the child with her nanny at a shop at the Eneka first market junction,” the tweet read.
The state police command has not reacted to the incident.
