A politician from Warri, in Delta state, South South Nigeria, Felix Edewor, has protested wrong attribution made to him by TheNation newspapers. Edewor, who is also a lawyer, is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His counsel, Paul Omozele, in his letter to publishers of the newspapers, identified the offending story as titled, “How Warri pastor, Canada-based Deltan got into trouble over N11m property scam” and published on 19 June, 2015 edition. Omozele debunked that Edewor was the person being referred to in the publication, rather he said “some other persons accused of Robbery and Firearms” offences. Edewor’s counsel wondered why the newspaper did not verify its facts before going to press. He added that Edewor did not contest on the platform of the PDP, as imputed in the story, but ANPP, and for Ethiope Federal Constituency of the House of Representatives in the 2011 elections.
Omozele identified Edewor as an APC leader and gives the newspapers 7 days to retract the story or face legal action.
