Femi Fani-Kayode, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has defended his post in which he referred to Is Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, as “friend and Brother”.
Fani-Kayode, who was among dignitaries who attended the wedding of Yusuf, President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, in Kano, had in a Facebook post on Thursday, disclosed that he travelled to the ancient city in the company of Pantami and some governors; all members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former minister of aviation, a known critic of the Buhari-led government, while defending the comment, said it is not wrong to be friends with your political adversary.
He had in April, described Pantami as a “jihadist”, after the latter admitted to holding extremist views in the past as revealed by a publication.
Fani-Kayode said politics is not war but about “bridge-building”.
“Buba Galadima with Ahmad Lawan, GEJ (Goodluck Ebele Jonathan) with PMB, GEJ with VP (Yemi Osinbajo) & Atiku (Abubakar) with PMB. Politics is about bridge-building regardless of your differences. It is not war. You can be friends with your political adversary and still disagree,” he said in a Twitter post.
“It’s called politics without bitterness and being civilized.”
