The Chief Imam of Dawakin Kudu community in Kano State, Sheikh Umar Tijjani, is dead.
Newsbreak.ng reports that Sheikh Tijjani died on Sunday, and has been buried same day in accordance with Islamic rites.
Reacting to the demise of the cleric, a former governor of Kano State and presidential candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, said in a statement: “I express my deepest condolences to the good people of Dawakin Kudu Local Government in Kano State over the recent loss of the Chief Imam of Dawakin Kudu, Sheikh Umar Tijjani.
“May the Almighty Allah forgive his sins, grant him Aljannah Firdaus and comfort his family.”
Tears flowed freely as thousands of sympathisers converged at the home of the Late influential Islamic cleric.
He was considered a revolutionary Hadith scholar who redefined the mixture of Islamic principles and traditional beliefs.
