Brighton and Hove Albion secured their first top-flight win over Tottenham Hotspur in all competitions since 1983, following their 3-0 home win in the Premier League on Saturday.
A brace from Aaron Connolly and Neal Maupa, saw Brighton end their six-game winless run in the Premier League (three defeats, three draws).
Also, it was Brighton’s biggest ever win over Tottenham and also their biggest Premier League win against a Big Six team.
Maupay gave Brighton the lead in the third minute as he headed in from close-range, after capitalising on a Hugo Lloris error.
In the eight minute, Spurs were forced into a change following an injury to Lloris who was replaced by Paulo Gazzaniga.
Brighton doubled their lead in the 32nd minute through Connolly who slotted in the rebound, after his initial shot was saved by Gazzaniga.
And in the 65th minute, Connolly grabbed his second goal and Brighton’s third goal after he cut inside and finished with a curling effort.
Connolly is now the first teenager to score a Premier League brace since Kelechi Iheanacho for Manchester City in May 2016.
Spurs are now temporarily sixth on 11 points, while Brighton also temporarily 13th on nine points, in the Premier League table.
