The Presidency has released the video of President Muhammadu Buhari ordering security agents to shoot-on-sight unauthorised persons carrying AK-47 rifles.
The video was published on the Presidency’s official Twitter account on Thursday.
President Buhari had on 3 March directed the security agencies represented by the service chiefs at a National Security Council meeting to curb the rising spate of insecurity by shooting all individuals not authorised to bear AK-47 rifles in the country.
This was disclosed by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, in an interview.
The order was given following the proliferation of the assault rifle in the hands of criminals and gun importers.
The presidential aide also disclosed that his principal declared Zamfara State a no-fly zone following intelligence reports that arms were being transported to the bandits with private jets.
