A communal clash between Umuemu Anam and Nzam in Anambra West Local Government of Anambra State has led to a loss of properties.
In the clash, which was said to have erupted due to a disagreement over land ovwnership, houses and farmlands were reportedly set ablaze.
Youths of Umuemu Anam community were reported to have started the clash by setting homes ablaze in Nzam.
In a reprisal, Nzam youths took over Umuemu community, burning houses and other properties.
An eye witness said the youths from both communities used firearms to scare each other away by releasing several gunshots in the air, leaving no one injured.
Haruna Mohammed, the state Police Public Relations Officer, upon confirmation of the incident said that the joint patrol team which comprises of the Police, Army and other sister agencies had been mobilized to the area to control the situation.
He said two suspects have been arrested over the incident.
Haruna added that the state commissioner of police, Garba Umar has ordered for a full scale investigation into the incident.
He said that security officials are still maintaining law and order in the affected areas.
