Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain, will reportedly announce Gianluigi Buffon’s transfer next week, according to reports.
According to Italian football website, CalcioMercato, Buffon will sign a two-year deal with the club worth roughly €7 million plus bonuses. It also said the former Parma goaltender will receive a role as a 2022 World Cup ambassador.
The announcement has been expected, but the three-match ban imposed on Buffon by UEFA following the incident involving referee Michael Oliver in the UEFA Champions League last season, was said to have complicated deal.
The 40-year-old left Juventus last season after spending 17-trophy-laden years, winning 11 Siere A titles, four Copa Italia and 5 Supercoppa Italiana.
His performances at the highest level despite his age attracted PSG, who in the course of finding a reliable shotstopper, had taken futile shot at the likes of Salvatore Sirigu, Sebastien Cibois and Kevin Trapp.
