P-Square’s one-time manager, Howie T, has revealed the real reason the singers split. Peter, now Mr P, sent shock waves all over social media when he came out to announce a new management as well as a new stage name for himself. The twins’s feud started with their manager, Jude Okoye, who according to some tweets by Peter, was breaching contract agreements with the duo. The feud led to the brothers taking sides with Paul choosing to remain with Jude.
Howie T, who was their first-ever manager and managed them from 2001, when they won the Benson & Hedges talent hunt, to 2005 said he called Peter after the tweets went viral and they had a discussion. He said he was told Jude was the major problem in the group. According to Howie T, Peter said although Jude was treated as a brother in the business, getting more than the 15-25% of incomes due to him, he was never satisfied. He also said he had turned down a show Jude got for them in Finland. He also said the Dubai show, which he is billed to perform in, was initially meant for the group as he had forwarded the bills for them appearing as a group and he appearing alone. Peter, being a composer, dancer and singer, also felt his songs were often knocked off their albums in favour of Paul’s.
“Secondly, things like this messes up an artiste’s creativity, Peter is a composer, dancer and singer, when they sit down to vote on songs that’ll make their album, Paul and Jude vote for more of Paul’s songs than Peter’s and these are the things that pisses him off. It has gone beyond just beef now, there’s a lot of ego at play,” Howie T said.
