Aminu Kuba, a relative to two leaders of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Nasarawa State, has countered the police on the identity of the men and suspects allegedly killed by suspected bandits.
The Nasarawa police command had named the two men killed as Mohammed Hussain, chairman of Miyetti Allah in the state and Mohammed Umar, chairman of the Fulani group in Toto Local Government Area.
However, according to Daily Trust, Kuba, said to be a cousin to the supposed slain men, countered the claim by the police.
He was quoted as saying that Umar was instead the chairman, Nasarawa State Chapter of Fulbe Development and Cultural Organization (FUDECO).
Police also said the gunmen behind the attack at Garaku market were suspected Fulani bandits.
“Upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bola Longe swiftly deployed Operation Puff Adder II personnel to the scene where the two corpses were recovered and taken to the hospital,” the police command spokesperson, Ramham Nansel, had said.
But the relative said the killers drove up to the men in a white car, stopped by their side, alighted and shot them at point-blank range.
“None of the eyewitnesses said they were Fulani bandits. They were killed immediately after praying Magrib and leaving the mosque,” the relative further said.
