The Zamfara State government says some repentant bandits have surrendered 203 sophisticated firearms under the state government’s peace accord.

Garba Dauran, Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs in the state, disclosed this to journalists in Gusau on Thursday.
Dauran said 2,566 live ammunition, 64 magazines, two handcuffs and 887 locally fabricated dane guns have been surrendered by repentant bandits since the government peace accord started on February 7.

In the bid to stop banditry, the state government initiated the peace accord, to give room for bandits to surrender their arms and embrace peace.
