The House of Representatives has summoned Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of Police, over the concerns of Nigerians participating in the #EndSARS protests, which is centred on the scrapping of the now-defunct Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (F-SARS).
An ad hoc committee set up by the House on the ongoing protests asked the IGP to appear before the special panel on 22 October.
According to the committee, it will also conduct town hall meetings across the country to hear from Nigerians on the matter.
The protesters have been demonstrating for over a week, demanding an end to police brutality and extrajudicial killings.
However, the protests have intensified despite the disbanding of SARS by the police by IGP Adamu on Sunday.
