Multiple sources in the camp of Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, have revealed that he had been livid with the way he was ‘edged out’ by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the party’s choice for its Vice-Presidential slot for the 2023 election.
Newsbreak reports that Wike, a leading contender for the vice presidential slot of Nigeria’s main opposition party, the PDP, is yet to congratulate Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.
Wike was conspicuously absent during the unveiling of his counterpart from Delta State, as the vice presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 general elections.
Since the presidential primary election of the PDP in May, Wike had been touted as the presidential running mate to Atiku given his enormous influence within the party.
In fact, a report claimed the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP favoured Wike. However, Atiku opted against him.
This news medium scooped this week that Wike is particularly angry at the fact that Atiku and the party jettisoned the recommendation of the advisory council.
According to an ally of Wike, “all options are being weighed”, meaning he is open to exiting the PDP soon.
